Founder & President
About Charlie
Charlie founded the company in 1999 and has been leading the way ever since with a hands-on approach and a commitment to doing things right. A Wayzata native and proud graduate of the “School of Hard Knocks,” Charlie brings decades of real-world experience, vision, and grit to the team. Outside of work, he enjoys family trips, relaxing poolside with loved ones, attending car shows, and hitting the road for a good road trip.

About Carley
Carley is the co-owner of Lawngevity and works behind the scenes taking care of payroll, benefits, and accounting. She graduated from Iowa State University, majoring in Communications. Outside of the office, Carley enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Tom Kuhl
Operations Manager
About Tom
Tom has been with the team since 2017 and serves as Operations Manager, where he helps keep projects running smoothly and crews well-coordinated. Originally from Fulda, MN, he studied at Southwest Minnesota State University and brings a steady, solutions-focused approach to his work. Outside of the office, Tom enjoys taking cross-country trips on his Harley, spending time with family, working on his lawn, and unwinding with a good cigar.
Sam Nierman
Sr. Crew Lead, Fleet Mechanic, & Snow Equipment Operator
About Sam
Sam joined the team in 2020 and has been a steady, reliable presence both in the field and in the shop. With a background in construction and mechanics, he takes a hands-on approach to keeping equipment in top shape and helping crews stay on track. Outside of work, Sam enjoys riding his classic Harley, working on his “papaw” truck, and catching a country concert when he can.

Jake has been with the team since 2021, bringing reliability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic shaped by his rural upbringing. Growing up in Grantsburg, WI, he spent countless hours cutting wood, maintaining equipment, and solving problems hands-on –experiences that laid the foundation for his strong arborist skills and continue to serve him well in both lawn care and snow operations. He studied at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and brings solid expertise in chemical application and equipment care. Outside of work, Jake enjoys spending time with his daughter, listening to comedy, and unwinding with a few rounds of eTabs.

Andrew joined the team in 2024, bringing a strong work ethic and a can-do attitude to every job. A proud Wayzata native and U.S. Army Reservist, he takes pride in doing things the right way and seeing a job through. Outside of work, Andrew enjoys lifting weights, working on his truck, and spending time with friends and family.

Joy joined the team in 2024, bringing a well-rounded background in business operations, client service, and creative problem-solving. Originally from Crosby, MN, she studied at Lowthian College and American Intercontinental University, combining a creative mindset with business systems insight. Outside of work, Joy enjoys exploring new ideas, gardening, kitchen experiments, and creative tinkering. Above all, she values spending time with her husband, son, family and friends.

Our Story: A family tradition of hard work & dedication
Family Roots
In 1991, before Minnesota’s infamous Halloween Blizzard, Charlie’s dad purchased an old 1978 Dodge Ramcharger that happened to come with a Leo Plow attachment (Saint Paul’s finest). When the blizzard hit, the truck became invaluable. They began plowing driveways as neighbors flagged them down, eager for assistance. This experience left a lasting impression on a young Charlie who tagged along, knocking on doors.
Introducting Lawn Care
Lawn care became part of the journey shortly after. In the early 1990s, Charlie started mowing neighborhood lawns, earning $10 per yard. By 1993, armed with a riding lawn mower, he expanded his reach, traveling further to help more neighbors. When Charlie got his learner’s permit, he and his mom began driving to even more properties, laying the foundation for what would become Lawngevity.
Transitioning to Today
What started as a way to lend a hand has grown into a trusted family tradition of delivering exceptional lawn care and snow removal services. Through hard work, dedication, and a passion for making properties look their best, we’ve built a legacy that continues to serve the Twin Cities with pride.
Maintaining Our Expertise
Each of our applicators maintains a license within the state of Minnesota.
